Culture Club

Culture Club is one of the most iconic bands of the 80s new wave era. Formed in London in 1981, the group blended pop, soul, reggae, and new wave into a fresh, global sound. Fronted by the charismatic Boy George, Culture Club became known for their bold style, emotional vocals, and instantly memorable hooks.

The band released their debut album, Kissing to Be Clever in 1982. The album became a worldwide breakthrough, reaching the Top 10 in multiple countries and delivering the hit “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” It marked the beginning of their rapid rise and helped establish their signature sound.

In 1983, Culture Club released their biggest album, Colour by Numbers. The record became a global phenomenon, featuring the No. 1 hit “Karma Chameleon.” It remains one of the most successful albums of the decade and solidified the band’s place in pop history.

Their third album, Waking Up with the House on Fire (1984), continued their chart success with singles like “The War Song.” In 1986, they released From Luxury to Heartache, showcasing a more mature sound and marking the final album of their classic 80s era.

Culture Club reunited in the late 90s and continued releasing new music, including Don’t Mind If I Do (1999) and Life (2018). Across six studio albums, dozens of singles, and more than 50 million records sold worldwide, the band remains one of the most successful and influential acts of the new wave movement.
